Teacher Mr. Frederick Weil
My name is Fred Weil.
I am a teacher for a British Columbia School District where I teach intermediate students in grades six and seven. During my professional studies I earned a B.A. in History degree from Yale University, a B.Ed. degree from the University of British Columbia, and a M. Ed degree from the university of British Columbia in the area of Language and Literacy.
I have been teaching now for over 15 years, but I still learning new teaching strategies and better ways to help my students. Currently my interests in education include using new technology, inquiry based learning in Science and Social Studies, and healthy living. I am very involved in coaching team sports, especially volleyball and basketball.
I have been taught ESL in the PRESL program for ten years. I find it very rewarding and exciting to meet people from different countries. My wife is from Japan and we spent two years living in Kyoto with our sons. Travel to new countries and meeting people from different cultures can give a person insight and wisdom and the understanding that while people have many differences the important things that we value are fundamentally the same!
I look forward to meeting you this summer!
